Cuddles is a Silver-phase Reticulated Python. Yes, I know what you are saying to yourself ... they have completely lost their minds. True, "Retics" are the largest snakes around and can grow to 20-25 feet in length, weighing a couple hundred pounds. We always said that we would avoid these because of their size. This particular animal is "short" for it's age. She's 3 years old, but only about 10 feet long. So, we're foolishly hoping that she'll stay short and not grow to ridiculously huge.
Size log: March 2003 she's 12 feet long. March 2004 she's 13 feet long, 55 lbs. April 2009 she's 14 feet long, 75 lbs.
She eats a big rabbit every 10 days, and has a very nice personality, aside from being incredibly beautiful! She has a funny eating cycle though. She eats 2 or 3 times in a row then goes off her food until she has gone into blue and shed. Then, she goes back to eating again.
As of July 2011, she's 16'6" long, and about 90 lbs. Our prayers have been answered - she's short for a retic!
